Milwaukee, Wisconsin
WOW!
This is an incredible city, and I can tell you, we will be going back when the weather is nicer!
Milwaukee is also a “lakeside city” like Chicago, and only 3 hours directly north. We opted for a winter weekend away, just for a break, and to visit two of my friends that had moved there from Chicago for new jobs. Yeah, you don’t think that going further north during winter is a wise move, but we weren’t really going for the weather or to be outside, but rather focused on catching up. Despite that, we HAD A BLAST, and Milwaukee is awesome even when it is only single-digit temps.
I am not going to lie, this may be one of the most unhealthy ventures that we have ever been on, so I am glad that it was only 3 days, as our diet mainly consisted of all-things-cheese (hello, it’s Wisconsin), german cuisine (think lots of meat and some potato product), and alcohol, all with minimal walking due to the temps (though we did still manage to log a few miles per day…walking between breweries, restaurants, distilleries, markets, and the river walk…). Unhealthy, but worth it. So worth it…. We came home with so much cheese… So. Much. Cheese.
The beer scene, liquor scene, food scene, plus the classic beauty of the city make this a “must-visit” city in our book! It is SO clean, feels super safe, and everything is much like I would imaging Chicago to be had it not burned down a few times. The buildings are historic, massive, and architecturally stunning!

Cheese curds are LIFE here…not a prolonged or healthful one, but definitely tasty!

Some of the cheese. Adam wanted ALL of the cheese. We got some of the some.

We were here more than once, breakfast at the diner here was GREAT!
Just one of the many captivating buildings of downtown
We stayed at the Drury Plaza Hotel, which is in the heart of downtown and a great deal when you book last minute! Almost everything we wanted to do was walking distance from here, and the “further” stuff was only a few dollar Uber ride.
I know that we will be going back to visit for both the people but also the awesomeness of the city! I can’t even how great it must be with not-a-winter-coat, and sitting outside to enjoy the drinks!
