Fall 2019: Chicago-Style
As time goes on, passing all too quickly, we fall more in love with the life that we are building as we feel settled into Chicago. And the Fall marks a full year of residing here now! It truly is an amazing city that enables to us to do as much or as little as we want, with any option or whim of “something to do” is easily within 30 minutes of walking or metro-ing. I am a HUGE fan and proponent of walking or public transportation, and love how connected everything is here between the two. Our Fall weekends were spent exploring more of the great neighborhoods that fill this little city with so much personality, as well as experiencing the awesome brewing scene.

We *LOVE* Nick Offerman, from “Parks & Recreation” to “Making It'“, to just his overall approach to life. So when we found out that he was coming to Chicago to perform a 1-man show (co-written with his wife Megan Mullally), you better believe that we were ALL OVER IT. And it was incredible. That and it was at the Chicago Theater, one of my favorite buildings as far as architecture goes, and walking distance from our condo for the win!

Happy Halloween: My daily walk between my office and the hospital
There is the awesome location in the city called District Brew Yards that is an incubator for start-up breweries so sample their libations to the public, so you get a nice venue of several brewery options along with great food! We really liked that there were 5-6 breweries with taps to sample from!

We had now been in Chicago long enough that there was an “annual thing” that we were doing for the 2nd time, and it has been one of my favorites since moving here: Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer (FOBAB). It is a wonderful evening of tasting many styles of beers from hundreds of breweries (yeah, you have to pace yourself….), and it is so much fun. We love discovering new favorites and adding them to our list! This will continue to be an annual tradition long into the foreseeable future!

Our daily close to each day, view from our condo…such a beautiful celebration of life itself!
And with that, we close our first year of being Chicago residents! Never expected to end up here (but that can be said for everywhere we’ve ever lived at this point…), but so grateful that we did!
