Spring: Chicago-Style
Have you gotten the point of how much we are LOVING Chicago!??!
There is as much or as little as you want to do! And SOOOOOO much of it is within easy walking distance of our condo.
Biggest event of our Spring? Well, Adam’s Spring: Dark Lord Day hosted by 3 Floyds Brewery in Indiana. It is a beer festival, with food festival, with a heavy metal venue? Yes, yes, with ehhh… All for great people watching! The day started with a 5 minute walk down to a local bar, Reggie’s, where you buy a beer and get a free ride to events. They do this for concerts, games, and other big events. Then you can buy more beer on the bus. It was an interesting start to the weekend and the day.
We arrived an hour before the gates opened, but it was a wonderful hour of waiting in line, sharing beers with others in line (as great beers were being passed and poured down the line, including a Cantillon from Belgium!!!). People were set up in tents along the line route, BBQ in the early hours and people watching. Adam was even adopted quickly by a tent-momma who grabbed him and sprayed him down with sunscreen because she wanted to protect his pale redheadedness. It was GREAT!
We enjoyed great beers and incredible people watching! One of the points of the festival is that your ticket gets you a random mix bag of beer from the brewery, some that are only released at this brewery at this event…so once per year. Immediately after you pick up you bag, there are people outside of the door with cash, clamoring to buy extra bottles. I will never appreciate beer like Adam and others do, but one of Adam’s bottle was “the most sought after” and he readily sold it for cash that almost paid entirely for both of our tickets. For a single bottle of beer…
An 0745 beer, to catch the 0800 bus to Dark Lord Day!

A beautiful Spring day with nothing booked, we decided that it would be a great day to explore our South Loop and neighboring ‘hoods. We did a bit of a brewery tour, as we have several within a 1 mile radius of our condo, to see what was out and around us. It was a lovely day!
