Summer: Family Time in Chicago
We were lucky to both have the Mayer Parents and Hoisington Parents visit, as well as my Aunt Elaine join from Texas over the course of the summer! We had been saving ourselves from “playing tourist” on our own, as we knew that we would want to show visitors around.
We learned living in Hawaii and Abu Dhabi, that you should wait to until you are hosting visitors to see and do the “must” things, as you will end up doing them SO.MANY.TIMES and lose appreciation for them. That being said, of everything that we did with everyone, it seems that we all agreed, the best times were together at the condo enjoying the weather of the patio, sipping on good drinks and enjoying Adam’s BBQ.
First came the Mayer crew:
Architectural boat cruise: Adler Planetarium
Architectural boat cruise
My Mayer Clan: Architectural boat cruise
Architectural boat cruise
Chinatown: The introduction to soup dumplings!
The introduction to soup dumplings!
Adam made Dad a ramen-obsessed convert
Of the whole trip, this was Dad’s favorite spot
And then came the Hoisington/McDaniels crew:
Walking the Lakefront
Cloud Gate in Millenium Park
Drinks at Cindy’s in the Chicago Athletic Association
Maxwell Sunday Market. Obviously, we had tacos!
Maxwell Sunday Market
Venturing around Chinatown
Enjoying the River Walk
Exploring Navy Pier
Wine and sunsets from the patio
Both visits passed entirely too quickly!
