Springtime Travels
Ahhh, the first breath of spring coming into our lives.
After a long and chilly winter, bunkering down between getting establish in the condo, and still on-boarding at work, we had not traveled anywhere since moving to Chicago (besides Adam going back to PA for Thanksgiving and camp). It was time to get some adventures on our 2019 books, and venturing to catch up with family and friends we went!
First was flying back to DC to reunite with our crew and celebrate the pending arrival of Baby Boy Greenhalgh. The girls of our Abu Dhabi crew coordinated and hosted a baby shower, while the boys all came together for brewery touring. It was a wonderful weekend of reconnecting, as well as getting to know the families of Dave and Debbie (spoiler alert: this amazing couple come from awesome families!).
We all connected by hanging out in Navy Pier, then Chris hosted the crew and the families that evening so we could all meet and connect before dividing the next day. Our evening (of course) broke out introducing Dave and Debbie’s parents to beer pong, and watching their excitement of being so good at it! Haha, great times! The Leslie hosted the most lovely of showers at her home, and all of the females from Dave and Debbie’s families and various stages of life came together. It was a wonderful afternoon. Afterwards, we joined the guys at the brewery, then ended our evening with a BBQ at Elena and Johan’s.
Truly, the perfect weekend.

The following weekend was Easter, and to PA we drove! Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas continue with family tradition of the entire Adams (Adam’s mother’s side of the family) family to come together, and we really try to keep up. Uncle Kevin and Aunt Teri hosted this year, and it was a BEAUTIFUL Spring day where we spent most of the afternoon sitting out on the deck catching up and basking in not/winter. It was my first time seeing everyone since the previous summer, so it was long overdue.
It is constantly surprising HOW quickly time passes.
Our Mayer Clan
The Adams Family
Our Pennock clan are originally from Michigan and venture back routinely to see their parents, so we were able to join them for a weekend with a short 3.5 hour drive. Jake’s dad makes maple syrup, and participates in the annual Vermontville Maple Festival, so what a WONDERFUL time to join the visit! We have met both Jake and Sarah’s parents several times, from the times living in Maryland and Hawaii. It was a wonderfully tasty weekend of catching up, snuggling with my Q(not)baby and Finn. We also enjoyed jaunting around in Jake’s new Tesla. Adam did have some hearts in his eyes for that!
