Nashville, TN
Driving from Shenandoah National Park to Nashville, TN had us researching for more spectacular BBQ to enjoy along the way, and reviews dictated that we *MUST* stop at Jae’s Smoked Meat Shack. It more than lived up to all of the hype, and we were served from beginning-to-end by Jae himself.
Having always heard raving things about the great city of Nashville, we knew that we would want to spend a few days here. That being said…it’s expensive for a hotel. For that reason, we opted to stay a bit outside of city-center and save a few dollars. It end up working out just fine, as we could easily walk the Cumberland River Greenway from our hotel into town, or Lyft/Uber without issue. One thing that we quickly noticed: Nashville is THE PLACE to go for bachelor and bachelorette party outings. Dear Lord. It was amusing to watch, and easy to avoid.
That first evening, we ended up spending MANY hours at Robert’s Western World (a.k.a. Honky Tonk Heaven), enjoying live and true country music and sipping on cheap beers. Followed by aimlessly wandering around downtown, fantasizing/contemplating about buying so many pairs of cowboy boots, and exploration of Tennessee Brew Works.

So, one of the MUST DO’s of Nashville is hot chicken. And there is no greater legend than that of Hattie B’s. So…there we went. To encounter an epic line well before lunch time. After standing in the line for about 45 minutes, waiting for a table, we learned a secret. I am going to share that secret with you, and encourage you to use it like we did. You can wait in line for hours on end to get a table and order, or you can order online from your phone and then walk right in (yes, passing all of those people in line) and picked it up. Also, of note, you can also go in to the counter and order beers to take out and sip on while you wait in line. We ordered our take away, and then went and sat on a bench to enjoy it.
Our afternoon was spent further exploring the Nashville BBQ and brewery scene:

Our meanderings involved our feasting at the amazingness of Peg Leg BBQ for ribs and picking up a new friend (Hi Aaron!!!) in the process. There was quite a line for this delicious BBQ, so we got to chatting with the single guy behind us, who was amazing! Then Adam bought them beers for while we waiting in line, he joined us for the meal, and next thing you know, Aaron is joining us for the remainder of the day! Which ended us right back at Robert’s Western World, since we had so much fun the day before!
Nashville was AMAZING.
We LOVED Nashville.
I have no doubt that we will return here again.
You should definitely take the opportunity to visit here, if you ever have the chance!
