DC Reunions!
Welcome to 2020. A New Year and a need to travel is in our souls….
Our beloved Greenhalgh crew welcomed Levi to the family over 8 months ago, so we were LONG past due on meeting our group’s newest addition! To DC for a long weekend we went!
We woke up nice and early to optimize our time, much to Adam’s chagrin, this meant an 0300 wake up time to be the first direct flight out to DC. Fresh off the plane, we went immediately to the Greenhalgh’s to meet Levi for the first time, and enjoy breakfast. Others came and joined throughout the day, and it was almost just 12 hour of chilling, catching up, and bonding with Levi, not-so-little-anymore Noah, and most of our crew. Though Noah was NOT having it with Elena and Johan holding Levi, as Elena was HIS mom and Johan was HIS dad. Haha! Also, we were very productive with helping Johan prepare for his citizenship exam (SO SOON, YAY!!!!!!), and I think we were all relieved that we each think that we could pass it as well!
By the end of the evening, I was contently exhausted from so much laughing! Seriously, my stomach muscles hurt and my throat was almost raw from so much hard laughing with tears running.
Adam and Levi enthralled with all things outside

Sunday morning was also THE BEST, reuniting for breakfast out with 4/5 of the Edwards clan, who moved back to the area from Hawaii last year. Jeremy was one of the Oncologists on my team back in our yeah-we-use-to-live-in-Hawaii days, and he and Katey are one of our favorite-ist couples in the planet! Seriously, I was so excited to reconnect that I couldn’t handle reading the menu (I just couldn’t bring myself to focus on anything but them!!!) and Adam had to figure out my order! It is so interesting and wonderful how it has been almost 9 years since we’ve seen each other, but felt like no time at all. I am REALLY excited that our next get together will not be waiting another 9 years!!!!
Me, Katey, Lily, Owen, Jeremy, and Adam
When I got into the Lyft afterwards, I made the comment to Adam that the past 24 hour had been so incredibly soul quenching, and our Lyft driver exclaimed that was one of the most beautiful things that she had ever heard. It’s true though...it is so incredible and gratifying how amazing of people that we have in our life. And how these simple yet deep relationships are so fulfilling.
I always go back to: “There is the family that you’re born into, and the family that you choose.” We are truly blessed with all meanings of family.
Our next adventure with the crew was spent trying my now-new-obsession for the first time: Ax Throwing! It was SO much fun!!! We all got pretty good at it over the course of our time as well!
Adam and Grizz….like no time has passed

Ohhhh, my crew <3
All hail Queen Sara, organizer of the axes!
SUCH a great experience!
It was the best trip, and one that I personally really needed. A break from Chicago, a break from work, and being surrounded by our amazing people and actual healthy kiddos (work has been especially rough as of late…). We stayed down in Navy Yard again, and LOVE the location, as it is so close to everything and such a nice area to walk around. Shout out to Philz Coffee (and Chris for introducing us last year) for making the BEST Turkish coffee…my first time being able to enjoy since leaving Abu Dhabi!
Now for Johan to pass his U.S. Citizenship exam and become official….oh for the celebration to come!!!
