Zion National Park
Oh Zion, you are probably my favorite.
I know I had said this before about other parks. And will say it about future ones, but right now, reminiscing of you…it is you topping the list. True love, for sure.
One reason we loved Zion so much, is that it did have the most interesting hike that we did: The Virgin River Narrows Hike! We hiked a mile up (and then back) up the river trail. You are hiking in water, ranging from ankle depth to mid-thigh (on us tall folks, so it will be significantly deeper for those of you who are not giants) the entire time. The water was 45deg, but it didn’t matter, it was amazing. People were wearing waterproof waders that they rented, but we didn’t bother, and were just fine….including me, and I am a cold wuss. You stay plenty warm with the hiking, trying not to slip, and being overwhelmed with awe of the incredibleness around you. This water hike goes for MANY more miles than we did, but we only had so many hours of daylight, and wanted to see as much of the park as possible.
Fair warning: You MUST park and be driven around the park on the shuttles. Additionally, if you are a tunnel-a-phobe like me there is THE LONGEST TUNNEL EVER to get into the park; it is long, narrow, and too dark. That being said, we obviously survived.
We also enjoyed the Emerald Pools hike to Grotto!
