Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

Canada: Quebec City, Quebec

Canada: Quebec City, Quebec

In between Thailand and this excursion to Canada, 6 weeks past. In this 6 weeks, we did a mini-road trip from NH to PA to DC and back around, catching up with our “nearest and dearest” the best that we could, though too many were missed. Unfortunately, there is no post for this, as there are really no pictures to share. We were too focused on re-connecting, that we ALWAYS forgot the camera, and lost our phones more times than we could count (which is very atypical for both of us). It was wonderful.

The venture north from my parents in NH to Canada, and swinging back down through Maine, marked the beginning of our epic, many-month, road trip around the United States. It was time to see as much of this glorious continent, on which we were born and raised, as much as we have seen Europe and Asia.

Also, we would end up back in Canada, in August to catch back up with our much beloved Canadian crew from Abu Dhabi.

First, driving in and exploring Canada is super easy for Americans, as the signs are both in English and French, though MPH converts to KPH, so watch your speeds. Second, Quebec is gorgeous, even in March, when is it literally freezing, snow on the ground, and quiet because all of the tourists are home staying warm. I was glad to know that we would be coming back later in the year, to see this gorgeous old city in its full bloom glory…and be able to ditch all of the layers and coats. That being said, awesome coffee is to be found here, to keep you warm!

Brasseries that we recommend you to visit (links imbedded in the text, so you can just click):

The one food that you must eat: POUTINE (though I will admit, I do not share the french fries covered in gravy and cheese curds fascination and obsession like most do).

Other than eating and drinking, much of our time was spent just walking around upper (Old Town) and lower city, and the long boardwalk along the St. Lawrence River, seeing the gorgeous old architecture and fortress walls,

And then we were on the road again, slowly through Maine to Boston for the evening. Maine is a beautiful, rustic state, that’s for sure.
