As most of you know by now, Adam and I are foodies...we LOVE trying new cuisines, traveling to experience the food in their native state, and thoroughly enjoy cooking. In going out with my Uncle Neal, he kept mentioning Ethiopian fare and was shocked, with our love of Indian and Moroccan food, that we had never tried it. Fast forward through the crazy chaos of the holiday season and all of our travels, we finally found a weekend to get together and try it!
We went out to a restaurant called
Dukem in DC and IT WAS AWESOME! First off, you eat entirely with your fingers off of are huge shared platter, so make sure you like who you are dining with before venturing here. Everything was served on this huge cold flat sourdough bread pancake, and you are given small plates of the pancake as well, to tear and use to grab up the food. There was lamb, chicken, lentils, vegetables, some hot and some cold, and it was unbelievable delicious. I didn't think it was all that exotic either, so even if you are shy to try new cuisines, this one should be on your list.
A fantastic evening was had with family and new friends and delicious food and drinks.
