Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

A Shenandoah Wedding

A Shenandoah Wedding

Oh, what better occasion to than a wedding to celebrate all things love AND have an amazing reunion with our beloved crew from Abu Dhabi. Our friend Micah and his wife hosted the most romantic and picturesque nuptials that we were all able to come together for, and it was the most quenching long weekends!

We left mid-day on a Thursday, to spend some extra time and the night in DC with Levi at the Greenhalgh abode, since he would not be coming to the wedding. Our friends also descended in at the same time for California, so it was a proper evening of too much tasty food and libations, belly aching laughter, and entirely not enough sleep!

We left bright and early on Friday, to get down to Charlottesville in time for the start of all of Adam’s groomsmen activities. I enjoyed a lazy afternoon walking around Charlotteville with the ladies, pursing the promnade, stopping for tapas and wine, before having to get ready myself for the evening’s Rehearsal Dinner. We had a small reunion with our crew at the hotel bar, before having the MOST INCREDIBLE time and meal at C&O Restaurant. Seriously, if you are even in Charlottesville, VA, you will regret if you don’t eat here. The second best crabcake and THE best duck of my life. We then had a full reunion (after an epic downpour) and awesome evening at The Fitzroy, followed by drinks and Domino’s delivery at our hotel bar. Another very late night/early morning or not enough sleep.

Saturday had us going early for Adam’s to get his beard groomed with the other groomsmen, and then disappearing for the day for everything. I went to have my hair done too, with Allison and Elena, since we just don’t feel competent enough to do it ourselves. A mini-reunion at the hotel bar again, before departing on buses for the wedding.

It was the most gorgeous day you could have ever planned; weather included. Perfect temperature, crystal clear cerulean blue skies, and just everything perfect. When it came to Chris’s (best man) turn to handover the rings to the minister, I could see Adam turning the most serious shade of purple that I have ever seen on a human (I thought/worried that he was having a medical event), because Chris was floundering. It turns out, Adam made him parnoid throughout the entire day about losing the. rings, so Chris knotted them in their bag so tightly he couldn’t get them out! Adam was purple from trying to hold back hysterical laughter! Oh, it was great. And of course I cried all the tears.

The wedding reception and dinner were at Early Vineyards, and it is was the most stunning of locals. Absolutely beautiful. And the food was also incredible! We had the best time reconnect with our crew, celebrating Micah and Stacey, and absolutely dancing our butts off! I even made BFFs with one of Micah’s nieces who was nervous to dance…we had a blast!

Unfortunately, our sister-in-law’s father passed away during this trip, but we were able to make it up to PA for the funeral, so for that we were glad to be able to be there for that.

Our trip was wrapped us with spending 24h with another of our favorite couples, enjoying awesome company, food, and gaming. Never enough time.
